A Memorial to Sun Yat-Sen

The Sun Yat-Sen memorial hall was opened in 1972 in tribute to Sun Yat-Sen, considered by many as the ‘Father of the Nation’ for Taiwan. The memorial contains a giant statue of SYS, and displays on his life and work. Children may enjoy looking at the giant statue of Sun Yat-Sen with honor guard, and walking around the gardens and lake outside.

Things to do with kids:

  • Visit the memorial and check out the changing of the honor guard (hourly).

  • Watch the regular occurring fountain water show, which has dancing water set to music.

  • Look and take pictures of Taipei 101, which is towering nearby.

  • Walk around the surrounding park, and try to spot squirrels, bird, and other city wildlife.

  • People-watch. (Always a fun activity at Taipei parks!)

  • Eat a tasty snack at the ice-cream / coffee shop located next to the park’s lake. ​
