Fudekeng Environmental Restoration Park

Fudekeng Eco-Park - A Toddler in Taipei - Explore Taiwan with Kids

A Large Park with Grass Sledding Area

Formerly the site of a landfill, the land has been transformed into a scenic 37 hectare park, which offers big grassy fields perfect for a variety of recreational activities. On weekends you’ll likely find people flying remote control planes and driving remote control race cars at the Northern end of the park. The Southern end of the park has a big grassy hill where families come for grass sledding. There’s also quite a few people flying kites and dogs running around. To visit Fudekeng you'll need your own transport. Driving out to the park from Taipei via Chongde Street involves taking a winding road through Fu De cemetery, which offers some surprisingly beautiful views of Taipei. The park offers lots of open space and grassy fields, but no playgrounds or sand pits.

Things to do with kids:

  • Watch people fly giant remote control airplanes around a big field.

  • Go sledding down a grassy hill, or watch from a tire seat at the bottom of the hill.

  • Check out all the garbage trucks in view of the sledding area. (This was a hit for our truck-obsessed son)

  • Fly kites in a big open field, while admiring views of the nearby Mekong Gondola.

  • Have a picnic, and enjoy being outside.

  • Take a walk around the park and check out the little lakes, or even the solar panel field).
