A Famous Night Market in Shilin
Shilin night market is easy to reach by MRT, and is one of the largest and most popular night markets in Taipei. It consists of a series of maze-like alleys selling clothes and all sorts of other stuff, as well as a market building containing a food court in the basement. If visiting the night market with small kids, visit close to opening time on a weekday, before it gets too crowded. There’s a lot to see and look at, including child-friendly market stalls that sell toys and stuffed animals, and even some with carnival style amusement games. Nearby the market is Chengde park, which has a playground and can be a nice place to visit before or after visiting the market if you have young kids. If you’re looking for the famous Shilin night market food, most stalls are located inside an underground food court on the western side of the market.
