Yuanjue Waterfall Hike

Yuanjue Waterfall Hike - A Toddler in Taipei - Explore Taiwan with Kids

An Easy Hike from Dagouxi Riverside Park

If you’re looking for an easy kid-friendly hike, visiting Yuanjue waterfall makes for a good outdoor hiking experience. The trail starts from Dagouxi Riverside Park, which is a short walk from the Dahu Park MRT in Neihu District. Walking through the park is very pleasant, it’s about .7km and the path goes right next to a small stream, which is popular to wade in during hot days. At the end of the park is the trail entrance for the Yuanjue waterfall hike, and a map near the entrance shows exactly where to go. There’s a flight of stairs near the start, but the rest of the trail is almost entirely flat, as well as shady. It’s about a .5km walk next to a river to reach the waterfall, and there’s interesting subtropical plants and trees to look at along the way. The waterfall itself isn’t overly impressive, but there’s a small pool for those who want to cool off in the water, and nearby are several shady umbrella rest areas. This is a good stopping point for young kids, but if you still have some energy you can continue on the same path for another .8km (uphill) to the nearby Yuanjue temple, but be prepared to climb a lot of stairs!
