A Great Place to Watch Planes
Are your kids interested in airplanes? The Songshan airport observation area is a great place to visit to see airplanes landing and taking off, airport trucks, and crews getting airplanes ready. The observation area is located between terminals 1 and 2 (pillars 18 and 19), and it’s outside the security area and open to the general public so no plane ticket is needed. The observation area is all outside, but there are spray misters setup to try and keep people cool on hot days and the main section is covered by a rainbow shade cover and more misters.
If you’re interested in having a snack or coffee during your visit, there’s a bakery setup near the elevators, also there’s lots of eating options at the airport including MOS burger, Subway, Starbucks, 7-11, and various cafes and noodle shops. The observation area is open until 9pm, so at night you can also see the Miramar Ferris wheel and grand plaza hotel all lit up. Across from the entrance on the first floor is a shop that sells airplanes and airport related toys.
