A Viewing Observatory at Taipei 101

Opened in 2004, Taipei 101 is one of the most iconic sites of Taipei, and is on most visitors must-see lists. Tickets can be booked online or onsite at the ticketing counter on the 5th floor. The Taipei 101 elevators are some of the fastest elevators in the world taking visitors from the 5th to 89th floor in just 37 seconds.

On clear days families can enjoy the stunning views of Taipei City and beyond from the outdoor observatory on the 91st floor. There’s also the indoor observatory on the 89th floor, which includes high-powered binoculars for visitors to use. This is the floor where you'll find souvenir shops, memorial photo shops, and even an ice-cream shop.

The building is designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes with the help of a huge 660 ton wind damper suspended between the 87th and 92nd floor, which is fascinating for both kids and adults to see. Visitors can walk down to the 88th floor to better view the wind damper.

Tip - Go around sunset for both daytime and nighttime views of Taipei.
